Eleven fifty-six
Tears streaming down my cheeks
Raindrops pelting on the pavement
In this night, my life was spent
Shivering, I squint my eyes
Got to brush off this ice
Straining to see the light
And towards it, I’ll make a flight
In the darkness, I grope
For a glimpse of hope
My heart is wretched
O, what scars the wound have etched?
I stand alone in this dark alley
*“Even though I walk through the valley
Of the shadow of death”
I shall not fret
*“I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me,”
Where my feet has taken me, I know not
Faith in Him is all I got
Warmth suffused within me
I’ve never been this free
Safe in His loving embrace
Whatever storm, I know, I can face
*Psalms 23:4
